Interfaith Sanctuary’s New Shelter Home Receives Certificate of Occupancy (PRESS RELEASE)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of Boise has granted a Certificate of Occupancy for Interfaith Sanctuary’s Shelter Home at 4306 W. State Street. This means the building has passed all major life-safety inspections and is officially approved for guests to move in. While a few minor finishing touches are still underway, the space is safe for occupancy and ready to begin welcoming those Interfaith serves.

With this approval in place, the Interfaith team will begin transitioning guests into their new home. The move will be handled carefully and intentionally, grounded in the trauma-informed, person-centered care that guides Interfaith’s work every day.

“The journey to this moment has been more than five years in the making,” said Executive Director Jodi Peterson-Stigers. “This Shelter Home was built with love and made possible by an incredibly generous community who believes our most vulnerable neighbors deserve more than a bed and a roof. We are deeply grateful to everyone who kept their boots on the ground and helped bring this vision to life.”

The 42,500-square-foot Shelter Home replaces Interfaith’s former 10,000-square-foot warehouse facility, where single men and women were served, along with a separate Hotel Shelter program for families with children and medically fragile guests. For the first time in years, Interfaith will once again serve individuals and families together on one campus, providing shelter and supportive services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The new Shelter Home includes an on-site medical clinic, an early education classroom, comprehensive case management, a full commercial kitchen, and dedicated spaces for art, job training, education, recovery, and mental health programming. Each space has been intentionally designed to promote stability, dignity, and clear pathways forward for those experiencing homelessness.

Media Note:
Out of respect for the safety and dignity of Interfaith Sanctuary’s guests, we are not accommodating on-site media visits during the move-in process. This is a significant transition for the individuals and families we serve, and our priority is ensuring a calm and supportive environment.

We look forward to welcoming media partners for tours and interviews once guests are comfortably settled. To coordinate, please contact Jodi Peterson-Stigers.
