It may sound simple, taking care of ourselves really is so important. Practicing self-care may seem like an obvious task, but it is something we can easily forget to do. Especially during the holiday season when things are busy, family dynamics can be stressful or we’re reminded of loved ones no longer with us.
A few years ago, I was grieving a loved one during the month of December. A wise friend recognized my grief and told me, “Go and do something nice for yourself. Take care of you.” That wisdom has really stuck with me.
There are many areas of our lives where additional self-care can improve our peace, emotional well-being and outlook on life. Some tactics are practical and some can be downright fun. Here are some suggestions to apply in each area:

The great Lucille Ball is quoted, “Love yourself first, and everything else falls in line. You
really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Taking care of yourself is
not selfish. You and your health are important. Every little thing that helps you be a
healthier person is worth it.
