Word on the Street Wins Two Idaho Press Awards

By Molly Balison

On May 3, Interfaith Sanctuary staff gathered in the ballroom on the fourth floor of the Boise Centre with journalists representing news and media outlets across Idaho the Best of 2024 Awards. This was the first time Word on the Street has been represented at the annual Idaho Press Awards.

Word on the Street placed third in the periodicals general excellence category. Second place for serious features in periodical writing was awarded to Gerri Graves, staff writer, for her story “Remembering Paul” and Molly Balison, Editor-in-Chief, for her story “New Beginnings: Idahoans Find Second Chances Through the Clean Slate Law”

After an elegant dinner and roars of applause, the team left encouraged by the growth of the newspaper and power its stories hold. Word on the Street continues to leave an impression on readers and provides a platform for writers to have a voice in the homeless community and beyond.
