Our first Pop-Up Thrift Shop was a huge success: THANK YOU BOISE!

popthiftOur very first Pop-Up Thrift shop idea came from a brainstorming session over coffee with Development director Jodi Peterson asking, ‘wouldn’t it be amazing if we could make a festive store experience for our guests to ‘shop’ and get ready for the cold months?’

We all agreed, and we went to the local media full force – and they responded!

Tammy Scardino from KIVI, Morgan Boydston from KTVB and all the wonderful reporters at Idaho Statesman and Idaho Business Review did great pieces informing you about our vision.

Not only the media responded, but Albertsons, the people at Jitasa, the Women and Children’s Alliance and Tracy Olson helped us enormously with donated racks for display and donated clothing too.

Despite an ominous forecast, it turned out that we had a fabulous sunny day.

But none of it could have happened without all of you, Boise citizens, who responded to our press and came to our American Terrace administrative offices in droves.

Boy did y’all clean out those closets!

You brought fantastic gently used and even some new clothing for our homeless population.

We received clothing your own children had outgrown plus new socks, and warm outerwear no longer needed, plus shoes and boots all for our homeless population to gear up for a cold winter on the streets.

pop-upBut the giving spirit of our community takes the edge off of the bitterness of the season.

We are so very grateful for all those who support us. And who care for their fellow man and woman who are less fortunate.

Every community of faith and those who are not affiliated with any religions turned out in force for a common good.

There are many reasons why people struggle with homelessness.

Did you know that the biggest factor for someone losing their home is a loss of a job?

For those who stepped in and did something for their fellow Boisean in need, please know that your small or large act has a profound meaning and the repercussions of that act created an energy that is palpable.

Thank you!

We love you, Boise!
