Thanksgiving weekend at Interfaith Sanctuary was a truly magical holiday thanks to the generosity of so many friends and neighbors. Interfaith staff, guests, and volunteers had an amazing celebration and our shelter would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts!
Our holiday started early with a delicious dinner of Thanksgiving classics served on Wednesday by local businesses SICK WASH, B&G Enterprises, Los Mariachis Restaurant, Redwood Gutterz, Mariscos El Chino, Nedy’s Fashion Boutique, Kora’s Palacios Welding, and Montoya’s Insurance.
On Thanksgiving day, we had a locally sourced meal of turkey pot pies and sweet potato casserole funded by Micron. In the past, Micron has helped us cook and serve our meal, but due to the pandemic was unable to be with us on-site. The company reached out to its employees and explained it wanted to help support our shelter with this meal, then gave staff the opportunity to donate if they wanted. Within hours, Micron employees had donated enough funding for us to hire City of Good to help us craft a Thanksgiving feast.
Roots Zero Waste Market, KIN, and Hen & Hare Microfarm helped cook the meal. The 250 freshly made turkey pot pies made our guests as happy as can be!
Our food service team Matt, Jeff, and Jonathan, worked hard all day baking the pies. Guests spent the day bedazzling the shelter with shiny lights and leaves collected from one of our donors’ backyards. We served apple cider and hot cocoa, and bakers Betsy Jane Wells and Suzanne Stigers made hundreds of crumble pies and pumpkin tarts.
A huge, grateful thank you to all of the amazing volunteers, staff, community partners, and guests who helped make this possible. Just wait until you see what we have in store for Christmas!
